Single-use, sterilized, hair-thin needles are inserted into specific points of the body to activate the nervous system and promote blood flow. From a western science perspective, acupuncture stimulates your body’s nerves, connective tissue, and muscles. From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture activates Qi (energy) at points along each person’s meridians, enabling the body to rebalance itself.

How Acupuncture Helps:

DECREASES PAIN Acting as a natural analgesic, acupuncture interrupts pain signaling.

BALANCES BODY CHEMISTRY Influencing the body’s biochemical responses via the nervous system.

REDUCES INFLAMMATION Reducing pro-inflammatory markers, or proteins, in the body.

Chyanne completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary, Alberta.

Being raised in the integrated community of Nelson, BC she learnt from a young age how important it is to prioritize health and wellness. After having a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic in high school, Chyanne turned to alternative medicine to help recover and heal her body, which inspired her passion in the field of Eastern Medicine.

She prioritizes finding the root cause of dysfunction within the body, starting with a detailed intake to tailor a treatment plan specifically to your individual needs. She is passionate about holding an open space of communication to thoroughly understand your health goals and takes a holistic approach in clinic incorporating treatments that support you physically, mentally and emotionally.

Alongside acupuncture she utilizes cupping/gua sha, electrotherapy and/or diet/lifestyle recommendations when needed.

Her goal is to educate and support her patients along their journey in healing, restoring balance and harmony within the body. She is continuously taking new courses, learning more techniques and expanding her knowledge on conditions.

Outside of clinic, she enjoys spending her time outdoors, hiking and camping with her australian shepherd, golfing in the summers and in the gym strength training and taking hot yoga classes in the winter.

Kristina Adams is deeply honoured to be carrying on the Vital Point Acupuncture and Massage clinic started by Jennifer Larsen over 15 years ago.

Kristina graduated from Pacific Rim College in April 2017 and became a Registered Acupuncturist with the CTCMA of British Columbia shortly after. Her interest in alternative health care began at a young age when she experienced various health issues that western medicine didn’t have the answers to.

She studied Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at The Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC, and later at Pacific Rim College in Victoria. Here she learned directly from Doctors of Chinese Medicine, studying gynaecology, dermatology, internal medicine, paediatrics, tuina massage, and advanced orthopaedic acupuncture.

After graduating from Pacific Rim, Kristina travelled to Japan where she had the amazing opportunity to train in Shiatsu massage, enjoy plenty of powder skiing, and immerse herself in Japanese culture and customs. From Japan she moved to Australia, where she mentored for one year at a fertility acupuncture clinic on the Gold Coast.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and holistic healthcare has truly grown into a passion for her, she is continually learning, growing, and finding ways to better help people heal and have affordable access to healthcare. She is currently studying to become a registered herbalist and is very happy to be serving the communities of Kamloops and Sun Peaks Resort.
